HECOL474 - Introduction to Nanotechnologies and Smart Textiles

Students explore opportunities offered by nanotechnologies and smart materials/structures as they relate to textile products. Mechanisms involved, materials used, fabrication processes, properties/performance obtained, and some examples of commercial applications are presented. Challenges encountered with these new technologies are also discussed. Prerequisite: (100 level CHEM or PHYS) and (HECOL 270 or consent of the instructor). Credit will only be given for one of HECOL 474 or 574.
